This post is all about the best personal finance podcasts.
1. The Ramsey Show
This is my top recommendation out of all the best personal finance podcasts out there. I love this show, and embarrassing or not, I was in the top 10% of listeners on Spotify in 2023. I listened to this podcast every day, for over 2 hours a day during my work commute. This was back when I was paying off over $150,000 in student loans, and this was the most important thing I did to keep myself focused and motivated in reaching such a challenging goal.
This podcast is a radio show where people call in and ask the hosts for advice about personal finance. They also cover topics like career choices and relationships as they relate to money management. There are multiple different hosts, and my personal favorites are Dave Ramsey and Ken Coleman. I like their no-nonsense approach and their blunt responses.
This podcast is as entertaining as it is informative. It is fascinating to get a glimpse inside people's personal finances and their struggles, and the advice offered on the show is fantastic. Every time I listen, one of the callers is dealing with a problem that I've also experienced, so the advice always relates to me, too.
This podcast runs 2-3 hours daily. It also includes "debt-free screams" where individuals and couples share their debt-free journeys. This is one of my favorite aspects of the podcast as I found it really motivating when I was getting out of debt.
You can listen on all the major apps or watch full episodes and highlights on YouTube. You can also access additional content through their app!
2. The Money Guy Show
Another favorite personal finance podcast is the Money Guy Show. I also listened to this podcast frequently when I was paying off debt, and it is my favorite podcast that covers specific financial topics in each episode. I frequently search topics and listen to the episodes that cover them, making it an invaluable resource for all things personal finance.
The Money Guy Show is a personal finance podcast led by two fee-only financial advisors and BFFs named Brian and Bo. Settle in for investment advice, debt payoff strategies, and budgeting tips mixed with humor and a side of southern twang. The southern belle in me is partial to a nice southern accent like Brian has.
These two know money management like it's their job- because it is! On this podcast, they share their wealth building advice gained from years and years of success as financial advisors. The podcast is a discussion style podcast where Bo and Brian casually discuss whatever is the chosen topic for that day's episode. I love the laid back and organic style that cuts down on the sometimes dry subject matter. It really is like joining a conversation between friends.
Their advice is seasoned and wise, and you know they practice what they preach. Every time I listen, I learn so much, but it never feels dull or boring. You definitely don't need to be a finance nerd to enjoy listening.
You can listen on all the major apps or watch on YouTube. They also run an advisory firm (do your own due diligence)!
3. Money for Couples
This podcast is hosted by Ramit Sethi. He is funny, relatable, and gives great advice. His podcast, Money for Couples, is excellent.
Money for Couples is a podcast where in each episode, Ramit talks a couple through their unique financial problems. What you realize after listening is that many of these financial problems are not unique at all, but seen again and again with couples from all walks of life. The conversations between the couples are raw, honest, and emotional.
This podcast is more focused on entertainment than it is personal finance advice, but I get bored quickly so I really enjoy it. It allows you to soak up lots of financial knowledge without it feeling dull.
Ramit has a great approach with couples to help them get out of their own way and deal with guilt and resentment that has built up. It's entertaining to listen to couples open up about such personal topics and see what their financial problems are. It is similar to the Ramsey Show in that Ramit is offering specific advice for specific situations, but you are sure to relate to something in each episode.
4. Animal Spirits
This podcast is a conversation style podcast between two friends, Michael and Ben. Each episode covers a variety of topics that are approached in an unstructured way. This podcast is light-hearted and more unserious and broaches a wide variety of financial topics.
In addition to personal finance, they cover other, broader topics like markets and the economy. This podcast is a great option for people looking for a funny podcast that goes beyond the realm of personal finance and into broader financial topics.
It is unstructured so there is lots of banter and tangential conversation. I enjoy how this podcast addresses financial topics and trends without being so in the weeds you get bored. The show is really funny, and I like that it's a conversation instead of a lecture. Michael and Ben are funny and also offer useful perspectives on investing and trends.
